Forever Loved....

Fragile Circle

"We who chose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own, live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached. Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way. We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully understanding the necessary plan." Irving Townsend

Mallory was a precious Russian Blue bobtail rescued from a local animal shelter. Placed in a forever home, Mallory became sick and was returned to rescue. Unfortunately, it was discovered that Mallory had become blind from hypertension and was suffering from advanced kidney disease.

Mallory passed away Tuesday June 22, 2010

Savannah

Savannah, an adorable little poodle, was picked up as a stray and taken to a local shelter where a SMART volunteer saw her and wanted to help her.  This poor little girl had lived an incredibly difficult life and was in a state of extreme neglect.  For the short time she was with us, she was given medical treatment and TLC, but her little body was too frail to recover.  Savannah was the sweetest and gentlest girl and will be missed by her foster mom who loved her dearly.

Savannah passed away June 17, 2010

Bailey

Adopted into a loving home, Bailey provided his owners with the all the love and joy only an animal that knows he has been rescued could provide. Unfortunately, Bailey became ill early this fall and passed away. He will be missed dearly in his "forever" home, however we take heart in knowing that he had the time with them to know true love, warmth and comfort.

Sweet Hope

Hope

Sweet precious Hope came to Smart Rescue is April of 2009. She was dumped by her owner at a veterinary office because she was "possessed by demons" . Far from being possessed, Hope was one of the sweetest, most precious dogs to have entered our rescue in many years. While her time with us was short,  SMART Rescue ensured that she had a  peaceful end.

Hope passed away on May 11, 2009

Sherman

Sherman

Sherman is part of a trend that is currently being seen in rescue. A large 5 year old declawed tuxedo, Sherman stopped using her litter box. Unfortunately her owners chose to put her outside rather than take her to the vet. Sherman was eventually turned over to a shelter where SMART Rescue found her. SMART Rescue spent five months trying to save Sherman, however what started as a simple urinary tract infection, had expanded to kidney and bladder stones. Had Sherman been taken to the vet at the first sign of a problem, she would be with us today. Sadly, SMART Rescue was unable to save Sherman and rather than see her continue to suffer we let her go. A clear case of neglect, Sherman passed away March 14, 2009 at the age of only 5 years.

Linus

Linus

Linus came to SMART Rescue as a two month old kitten. When he came we knew his time with us would be short. Linus suffered from a diaphragmatic hernia and organ development issues. Linus had a short, but peaceful life and passed away  December 29, 2008 at the age of only 6 months.

Duncan

Duncan

Found wandering the streets, Duncan was already old and blind when he was brought to SMART Rescue. Duncan stayed in his foster home for 2 1/2 years before a seizure disorder took his life. While his previous life rough, SMART Rescue ensured that he had a  peaceful end.                                         Duncan passed away in May of 2008
